Orange hails 5G impact on jobs, gas emissions in 2030 - Mobile World Live 07 MAY 2021
A study commissioned by Orange found 5G will have significant societal impact in 2030, creating new employment opportunities, reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and generating 5G-enabled sales revenue of more than €400 billion across 5 European countries.

(pictured left), explained the research aimed to examine the impact of the next-generation technology in all societal aspects, as the operator group sought to help the development of use cases which will bring improvements across the economy, employment and environment.
Ofcom completes 5G spectrum allocation - Mobile World Live 27 APR 2021
UK regulator Ofcom unveiled the outcome of its latest auction for 5G-suitable frequencies, with the total sum increased to £1.38 billion after EE added £23 million to its original bid.
Ofcom explained the full process had now been completed after finalising an assignment phase in which operators had the chance to bid for specific spectrum blocks.
EE committed the additional sum to guarantee its preferred allocation, taking its total bid to £475 million. O2 UK, 3 UK and Vodafone UK received blocks they previously targeted.
Ofcom’s director for spectrum Philip Marnick said completion of the auction gives the four companies the possibility to “rapidly rollout better mobile services to people across the UK”.
Nokia bags 5G order from Globe Telecom - Mobile World Live 24 FEB 2021
Nokia secured a three-year deal to upgrade Globe Telecom’s existing 4G network to 5G, and expand the next-generation technology to more than 1,000 sites across the Philippines.
In a statement, Nokia said it would provide equipment and services from its AirScale portfolio to build Globe Telecom’s RAN, including base stations and other products.
The operator will also use Nokia’s AirScale Massive MIMO antenna solution, to boost coverage and performance. The deal will employ 3.5GHz spectrum for dense, urban coverage and it will expand existing LTE network infrastructure.
