Srinagar: Thirty-eight-year-old Idrees Jan Mir, does not know why he was fired from his position as teacher at a government school â one he held for 14 years.
His termination order, issued by J&Kâs Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha accused Idrees of working against the âsecurity of the state.â
But this father of three small kids, who was posted at a school in his native Kupwara district of north Kashmir, says it is news to him that he can be a threat to anyone at all. âI canât crush an ant under my feet. How can I pose a threat to the state,â he asked ....

The Hurriyat, headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and the National Conference (NC) on Tuesday criticised the termination orders of three government employees by the J&K Lieutenant Governor under the newly introduced Article 311 this month.
“It’s most inhuman and cruel to render people jobless in such a manner, by invoking a draconian law. The government should revoke these orders and stop harassing and intimidating the employees,” a spokesman of the Mirwaiz said.
He said people of J&K were dealing with the deadly virus and daily fatalities. “Instead of mitigating people’s sufferings caused by the pandemic, the government is pursuing such ruthless dismissals. We appeal to rights organisations and legal experts to take notice of these measures and provide assistance in safeguarding and securing the employees’ rights.” ....

Jammu: The government of Jammu and Kashmir has constituted a Special Task Force to screen cases of employees for invoking provisions of Article 311 (2) (c) of the Constitution. The task force will have the Additional Director General of Police Jammu and Kashmir as its chairman.
The members of the task force include Inspector General of Police, a representative of the Home Department not below the rank of Additional Secretary, a representative of Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs not below the rank of Additional Secretary, and a representative of the concerned department as necessary, not below the rank of Additional Secretary. ....
