THK has made a name for itself showcasing contemporary art works by local artists. The aim of this gallery is to showcase art which presents a diverse assemblage of developing forms of modern art.
The exhibition lined up for this month is by conceptual South African artist Pierre Le Riche. Le Riche works in sculpture and installation, although he does not specialise in any specific medium. The exhibition is titled
Urns for the Ashes of My Lost Lovers: Part 1.
“It is forbidden to keep all my lovers, so I harbour my feelings in containers adorned with my memories of them. My lust is carved in clay, vitrified and shattered. My adoration is lost in a shipwreck in a hull lined with amphorae filled with it. My love is consolidated, incinerated and divided among urns kept in a crypt so veiled that even I have forgotten its location” Le Riche is quoted as saying on
