Prosecutor General’s Office appeals court ruling to release former senior parliament staffer Ara Saghatelyan Armenia’s Prosecutor General’s Office has appealed the ruling of the Court of Appeals to release Ara Saghatelyan, a former chief of the Armenian parliament staff. Saghatelyan’s lawyer Mihran Poghosyan claims that after the release Saghatelyan has repeatedly criticized the incumbent authorities which became a reason for the appeal. “It was strange for us as I assure you there are few such substantiated judicial acts as presented by the Court of Appeals. There are many issues concerning this case,” Poghosyan told Aysor.am, adding that they thought the prosecution understood the absurdity of the case. ....
Court to hear the appeal against Ara Saghatelyan s arrest today The Criminal Court of Appeals is set to hear the appeal against the arrest of Ara Saghatelyan, former chief of staff of the Armenian National Assembly on Thursday at 13.00, the Head of Veto Movement Narek Malyan informed. Political prisoner Ara Saghatelyan has been arrested on ridiculous charges. To me, Ara Saghatelyan s arrest is another curtsy of the capitulant towards Aliyev, Malyan wrote on his Facebook, adding he would be outside the court building along with his friends.
