Not give them the benefit of the doubt. arno, i want to bring you into this conversation. how did you become a skinhead and how did you get out of that culture of hate? i got into it because i was a violent drunken teenager. i was already very enamored with fighting and with i felt like i hated society. white power skinhead music gave me a context for that and gave me a justification. once i banded together with other disgruntled white kids, we kind of radiated hostility into the world. the world reflected it back to us, which validated all of our paranoid ideology. and actually the reason why our skinhead gang grew so fast was because we could rely on brawls against anti-racists and anti-fascists. their violent opposition to us was a huge part of our recruitment. it was a part of our ongoing ....
