Suspected gang member from Thibodaux arrested in connection with fatal Houma shooting, police say A suspected gang member on the run after being charged in a deadly shooting at a Houma Sonic drive-in was arrested in Washington state, authorities said. Travis Dwayne Mart Jr., 21, of Thibodaux, was taken into custody in Tacoma, Wash., by federal agents and was transferred Friday to Terrebonne, the parish Sheriff’s Office said. Mart is one of several men indicted Dec. 8 in connection with a shooting July 19 at the Sonic on 5963 W. Main St. that killed 21-year-old Mcgarrete Jackson. Mart is charged with attempted second-degree murder, racketeering and criminal street gang activity, the Sheriff s Office said. ....
Terrebonne grand jury indicts seven suspected gang members A Terrebonne Parish grand jury has indicted seven suspected gang members on multiple charges in connection with a shooting last summer at a Houma Sonic drive-in that left one man dead. Court records show the grand jury found enough evidence April 13 to charge Schriever residents Armontae Davis, 19; Arvontae Davis, 19; Ahcory Davis, 18; Xavier Walker, 23; D’ND Wright, 19; Chad Alex Jr., 20; and Trovone Taylor, 20. All are charged with racketeering, criminal property damage, criminal street gang activity and a host of other charges. Armontae Davis, Arvontae Davis and Wright were also indicted on charges of attempted second-degree murder, records show. ....
Eight suspected gang members arrested in Terrebonne investigation Eight suspected gang members were arrested and four remain at large in connection with a series of recent Houma shootings, authorities said in a Thursday press conference. Members of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Gang Investigation Team, or GIT, launched an investigation into alleged criminal gang activity following a fatal shooting at a Houma Sonic drive-in July 19 that claimed the life of a 21-year-old Schriever man, Sheriff Tim Soignet said. Soignet said he formed GIT with members of the Sheriff s Office Detective Bureau and Narcotics Division to quell the spike in violence. ....
