JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State men’s track and field dominated on day three of the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds at The University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium. The Seminoles punched in 10 additional tickets to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
“Our men had one of our best Region meets ever,” said head coach Bob Braman. “We competed beyond our expectations. The men hit on 10 of 12 National qualifying opportunities today, that’s unheard of! We’re in a really good spot for a trophy finish (Top 4) at Nationals. And you never know when things break your way and something amazing happens. Proud of all of them!”
The sprint’s squad put on a show, punching 7 of the 10 tickets on Friday. The 4x100m relay squad of Taylor Banks, Kasaun James, Don’drea Swint, and Jo’Vaughn Martin was the first ticket punched on the track. Their time of 38.67 is the No. 4 time in FSU history and No. 4 in the nation.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. –
The Florida State Track and Field team put on a show during day two of this year’s Tom Jones Memorial Invitational, which was highlighted by performances from Jo’Vaughn Martin and Trey Cunningham inside Percy Beard Track at James G. Pressly Stadium.
“We had an unbelievable day today at the Tom Jones meet!” said Head Coach Bob Braman. “I’m so proud of how they dealt with 2 days of rain delays and kept their composure. And to then do so many things on the National level is incredible.”
The most newsworthy of the Seminoles performances was Martin’s astonishing time of 9.94 in the men’s 100 meters. The Houston, Texas native not only recorded a personal best but also his time is currently the world lead, NCAA lead, ACC lead and No. 3 on FSU’s All-Time Top 10 list.
With a strong incoming group of first-years and some key returners, the UNC women's and men's track and field teams are primed for further improvements in 2021.
