Sense of what has happened in the political arena, and i think he draws on that. reporter: now, as you heard from bob and deb there, the two ardent trump supporters, they make it clear and are reflective of the reality in iowa of our polling, that 2/3 of iowa republicans still view donald trump favorably. 2/3 of iowa republicans also do not believe that donald trump committed serious crimes, and so you have a very sympathetic, still republican base of support here in iowa but the polling on the other hand continues to show, though, that there is an openness to a trump alternative right now though. all of these other candidates are diluting the vote. the question going into the debate is potentially can one of these candidates separate themselves from the rest of the
Saudi arabia s repeated abuses of human rights, including the murder of journalist jamal khashoggi and the kingdom s role in the 9/11 attacks. with me, terry strauda. her husband died on september 11th, 2001. there has been a lot of back and forth over whether the president would travel to saudi arabia, would greet mbs, who u.s. intelligence blame for the murder of khashoggi, but now the time is here. biden is meeting with saudi arabia s leaders on friday. how do you feel? what s your response? well, i have been really disappointed in the president lately. when he put out his op-ed in the washington post, he completely omitted 9/11. he didn t talk about what we re going through and what we have been requesting from him. president biden claims to be mr. empathy. he is the least empathetic president we have had since september 11th. he offered us no comfort at the 20th anniversary.
President biden s visit there. and leading this hour, next stop, the justice department. the january 6th select house committee is in talks to share some of its vast trove of material with the doj, committee chairman bennie thompson telling cnn the d orc j is focused on tr transcripts about the fake elector scheme. this as a different committee member says the panel needs more evidence to prove its claim that former president trump may have tried to tamper with a witness. as cnn s manu raju reports, the latest hearing highlighted the complexity of documenting his past transgressions as well as alleged new ones. the january 6th committee promising new evidence to build a case against donald trump. this time, focusing on his inaction during 187 minutes as the attack unfolded. in the first one or two minutes, i think any other president would have moved very quickly to try to prevent violence and bloodshed in an
Attack on the capitol. but more than three hours went by before donald trump said much of anything. next week s hearing, the eighth one of the series, building upon evidence showing how trump tried to use the power of his government to overturn joe biden s victory. we re going to walk down to the capitol. he called on his supporters to come to washington on january 6th. so why did you decide to march to the capitol? basically, the president got everybody riled up, told everybody to head on down. so we basically just followed what he said. tuesday s hearing, vice chair liz cheney revealing that trump tried to call a potential witness. something the committee relaid to the department of justice. let me say one more time, we will take any effort to influence witness testimony very seriously. but today, chairman bennie thompson telling cnn that the committee does not plan to
