A British diver claimed to have found lost millions belonging to Germany s wartime tyrant a stash that became known as Hitler s lost gold . The researchers discovered an Australian freighter – SS Wollongbar II – when it was discovered off the east coast of Australia near the town of Crescent Head, in the state of New South Wales. The ship sank during World War 2 in 1943, when it was struck by two torpedoes fired by a Japanese submarine.
