SUNBURY, Pa. (AP) A central Pennsylvania jury has convicted a woman of lying to investigators in the 2019 beating death of a 3-year-old girl in which her son faces charges.
The (Sunbury) Daily Item reports that 51-year-old Christy Willis of Sunbury proclaimed “I am innocent while being led out of the Northumberland County courthouse following her conviction on charges of obstruction in child abuse cases, hindering apprehension and making false reports to law enforcement.
Jurors deliberated for less than an hour Thursday before convicting her of lying to investigators about events leading up to the October 2019 beating of Arabella Parker, who died after spending 44 days at Geisinger Medical Center. ....

SUNBURY – Testifying in Northumberland County court Wednesday, Samantha Jo Delcamp implicated former paramour Jahrid Josef Burgess in the death of her 3-year-old daughter and debunked statements made by his mother.
Delcamp, 25, was a prosecution witness in the trial of Christy Lynn Willis, 51, of Sunbury, who is accused of giving false statements to investigators.
Her testimony supported allegations Willis lied to protect her son when she told investigators she saw Arabella Parker suffer a seizure, fall down and hit her head. She was not there, Delcamp said. ....

SUNBURY The mother of a man accused of fatally injuring the three-year-old daughter of his then girlfriend has been found guilty of giving false statements to investigators.
A Northumberland County jury deliberated for less than an hour Thursday before finding Christy Lynn Willis, 51, of Sunbury, guilty of obstruction in child abuse cases, hindering apprehension and making false reports to law enforcement.
She wanted to testify against Willis, her attorney Michael O’Donnell said.
She wants both Burgess and Willis convicted, O’Donnell said, adding that it was her decision to testify in both instances. ....

SUNBURY – Homicide and related charges against the Northumberland County man accused in the beating death of his ex-girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter have been sustained.
County Judge Charles H. Saylor Tuesday rejected a defense argument that testimony at Jahrid Josef Burgess’ preliminary hearing was insufficient to support homicide and related charges.
Burgess, 20, is charged in the 2019 death of Arabella Parker as is her mother, Samantha Jo Delcamp, 25. Each is jailed without bail.
Delcamp on Tuesday gave incriminating testimony against her former boyfriend that was similar to what she said in a recorded police interview played at Burgess’ preliminary hearing. ....
