Legendary singer Bappi Lahiri passed away at the age of 69. Fondly called Bappi Da by his fans and friends from the industry, he was credited for revolutionising the disco sound for Hindi film music landscape in the 70s and 80s and continued to churn out hits in a career spanning five decades.
Bappi Lahiri s last rites will be held at Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu on Thursday. His son Bappa Lahiri and his family arrived from Los Angeles, USA early this morning to perform the last rites of the Disco King .
Honouring Bappi Lahiri - the Disco King of India, the dairy brand wrote, Chalte Chalte Mere ye Geet Yaad Rakhna , in reference to his memorable song from 1976 cult classic Chalte Chalte .
Bappi Lahiri not only collaborated with popular names like Akon and Lady Gaga but rights to his music was bought by mega-budget franchises like Marvel s Guardians of the Galaxy. He also composed music for Disney animated film Moana and made the international audience groove to Football Fever.
