3 Floyds, one of the Region s first and most widely celebrated craft breweries, has reopened the retail kiosk at its brewpub in Munster, a popular spot for decades for Region craft beer lovers to stock up on hoppy ales and merchandise.

The acclaimed craft brewery, which was repeatedly named best in the world by RateBeer and helped plant the seeds for the ongoing growth of craft brewing in the Calumet Region, closed its landmark brewpub at 9750 Indiana Parkway in Munster early in the coronavirus pandemic last year and sent a letter to pub investors in December that it had decided to permanently close the brewpub while it continued to brew and distribute beer. ....

What’s agriculture got to do with a ‘green’ Brexit?
Whilst Brexit has created major societal upheaval, it has illuminated issues that were brewing far in advance of its arrival. This is especially true in the agriculture sector. Brexit was presented as an opportunity to revise certain agricultural policies that facilitate ecological breakdown, but it has also provoked a critical examination of neoconservative policies and their relationship with ecological discourses and practice. Seeming to recognise the ecological impacts of the EU Common Agriculture Policy (CAP), the UK government has shifted away from the subsidy scheme which rewarded farmers largely based on land size. The EU system has been critiqued for disadvantaging smaller-scale farmers, and for encouraging a harmful extractivist approach to EU food production which has degraded the rural landscapes the British countryside. The year 2020 will be remembered for the appearance of the first pandemic in decades, as coronavirus devastated people’s lives and businesses.
The weather did farms no favours either with both storms and very dry spells disrupting the growing season. And as if that wasn’t enough, dispiritingly for farmers, activists decided farming was to blame for climate change.
