What is Koo, the Indian microblogging website, and how does it work

Koo, an Indian microblogging website, launched 10 months ago has been recognised by the Government of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as one of the Aatmanirbhar apps of India.
Koo was launched by app developers, Aparameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidawatka.
The app is available in several languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Odiya and Assamese.
“Koo App is the Voice of India in Indian Languages,” reads the website bio.
In a bid to encourage the developers, several ministers and celebrities have started signing up.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who is quite active on Twitter, announced that he has also opened an account on Koo. The Electronics and IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had already joined the platform and has a verified handle now. ....

As the Indian government and social media giant Twitter locked horns with each other over the former ordered Twitter to remove more than 1,100 accounts and posts which it says are spreading misinformation about widespread protests by farmers against new agricultural laws, many Indian politicians and users are joining the indigenous Twitter-like social media platform Koo launched last year.
