The figures, from housing director Aoife Duke, were disclosed to Labour councillor Conor Sheehan at a meeting of the metropolitan district. In total, she said between 2014 and 2020, there were 1,170 properties allocated. However, 400 of these were succession tenancies, meaning the effective figure of homes re-let stands at 770. Last year was the third busiest in terms of re-letting, where 128 homes were involved. In 2014, 146 homes were re-let and in 2015, that figure stood at 141. The year 2018 saw the lowest, with just 68 units re-let. 2017 saw 90 re-lets, and 2019 saw 97 homes reallocated.

The Incremental Purchase Scheme is targeted at working households currently in private rented accommodation who may be on HAP, RAS or social leasing. A new build home can be purchased at a discount price (between 40% and 605) depending on the purchaser s income band. The two locations where the scheme is being piloted in Limerick are housing developments at Main Street, Pallaskenry and at Old Cratloe Road/ Redgate Road in Limerick city.

A new build home can be purchased at 40 - 60% discount, depending on income. The two locations where the scheme is being piloted are housing developments in Main Street, Pallaskenry and the Old Cratloe Road/Redgate Road area on the outskirts of the city.  For the Main Street, Pallaskenry scheme, eight out of 16 homes being constructed are available and prices will start from €106,000 – €162,000 for a three-bedroom semi-detached home.
