When 12 students and one teacher were gunned down in a mass shooting at Columbine High School in 1999, the tragic event marked a turning point for America. Girard is set to return for the Avalanche after getting care from the player assistance program

Samuel Girard is set to make his return for the Colorado Avalanche after receiving care from the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program. Girard said he'll play Sunday at home against San Jose in his first game since Nov. 18.
