A POLICE investigation is underway after a man and woman were stabbed in the street in broad daylight. Emergency services rushed to the scene on St Peter’s Road in South Ham just after 3.15pm on Monday (April 26) to reports of a man screaming, “I’ve been stabbed”. A 28-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were taken to hospital with stab wounds. A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Reverse the Cut: Anvil Arts to ramp up campaign with projections beamed at its venues ANVIL Arts is set to ramp up its campaign against Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s decision to cut funding by beaming large projections this evening (Friday). The windows of The Anvil and The Haymarket will both be used to project the campaign slogan #ReverseTheCut. The council had earlier agreed to Anvil Arts will film the projections and share them live on their Facebook page, encouraging people to watch them from home and avoiding any crowds gathering outside. Alongside the projections, the organisation has also released an ‘Impact Report’, which sets out the compelling reasons for protecting and supporting arts and entertainment in Basingstoke and reversing the cut. ....
A PETITION created by Anvil Arts which urges Basingstoke council to reverse its 50 per cent funding cut to the organisation has exceeded the number of signatures gained by the platform’s previously successful campaign. The plea, published via arts organisation Campaign for the Arts, gained more than 5,000 than less than a week and asks the council to reverse the cut of £400,000, instead working with Anvil Arts to secure the future of theatre in the town. This is the second petition to be published on the website, which describes itself as a collective of tens and thousands of people with a shared aim of helping the arts sector to recover by securing adequate funding. ....
