More than 10% seats still lying vacant in Assam medical colleges | Guwahati News

GUWAHATI: Over 10 per cent of the MBBS and BDS seats in the government medical colleges of Assam have remained vacant after the second round of all-India counselling and first round of state counselling this year.
Many students from outside the state have not shown interest in getting themselves enrolled in the 15 per cent all-India quota category available in the seven medical colleges of Assam where admissions are being held to fill up 1,000 seats in MBBS and BDS.
A notification issued by the directorate of medical education, Assam stated that among the state quota seats, 33 are lying vacant in MBBS, while 45 vacant seats are still unfilled in the BDS course. On the other hand, from the central quota, which constitutes 15 per cent of the total undergraduate medical seats, 54 MBBS seats and six BDS seats were lying vacant as on Sunday. ....
