Will actually start again, plateauing again fairly quickly. lies that? is that because of the success of the vaccination programme or are there other factors? vaccination has a lot to do with it. it s more than that, because as we can see, there are a lot more people who have antibodies that have been vaccinated in the country. it s partly the vaccine but it s also people having had the infection and recovering from it. if we look at the ons data, even in mid june which was the last antibody survey, about 40% of 16, 17 year olds who want to had vaccines, where immune and that figure is an underestimate, partly because we have seen a huge number of cases in that age group in subsequent months, but also some of those negative people might have had ....

Pretoria, 12 May 2021 – The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), together with research partners, Epicentre, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS), and the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), is continuing with the National COVID-19 Antibody Survey (NCAS), which started in November, and will end later this month.  This survey is funded by both the Solidarity Fund and the HSRC, and is  fully supported by the National Department of Health.
The survey is being conducted in nine (9) provinces and is anticipated to reach upon completion, 19000 people in 400 communities. ....

The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and its research partners, on Thursday, dismissed rumours that its National Covid-19 Antibody Survey (NCAS) was an attempt to vaccinate respondents and cause harm to them.  The survey, which is supported by the Department of Health, is currently being conducted in all nine provinces, by Epicentre, to estimate what proportion of South Africa’s population may have been infected with Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2). ....
