Quickly as possible. here s the story for you. reporter: the u.s. rallying the western world and beyond to keep the weapons flowing to ukraine as russia s invasion enters its third month. countries converging to figure out what weapons they need and how to get in quickly. ukraine clearly believes they can win and so does everyone here. germany, announced during the meeting, it will send in 50 mobile antiaircraft systems. the u.k. and canada also sending more armored vehicles. the willingness to send in weaponry is growing, along with the rhetoric. defense secretary lloyd austin raised eyebrows when he said the u.s. goal is to weaken russia. i think we ve been pretty clear from the outset. we do want to make it harder for russia to threaten its neighbors and leave them less able to do
Antiaircraft systems, the antiship missiles, the ability to provide armored cars, personnel carriers and tanks. i think probably the most expeditious way to do this is to make sure that our allies in the warsaw pact are providing their weapons. they have those weapons and it s a lot closer for them to deliver those heavy weapons to the ukrainians and we can replace those weapons for our allies. that s probably the most expeditious way to get the weapons necessary to the ukrainians and have it happen sooner rather than later. why hasn t the ukrainian military yet been able to take out the russian artillery in the missiles that have been pulverizing smoe some of the towns? i think they re beginning to get the weapons. it takes training to be able to
i think we ve seen some decisions in the last several weeks, good decisions to help ukraine get antiaircraft systems that go against planes flying at 30,000 feet, antiship missiles. but these things, the decision s been taken, it s not clear that these weapons have been delivered. the administration needs to make that a priority. they also need to send tanks, they need to send rocket systems which can travel 30, 40 miles to take out russian forces as russia begins to change its tactics to begin to focus exclusively on the east of ukraine. this is very important. but how long will it take to get these? look, is there enough time now, considering that russia is changing its tactics, and as we look at bucha and we look at what s happening in borodianka, i mean, is there time? there is time to stall the next russian offensive. the ukrainians have beaten back the first russian offensive.
