Rescind quit notice, compensate Fulani, AYCF tells Akeredolu

National President of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), Alhaji Shettima Yerima has admonished the governor of Ondo state, Rotimi Akeredolu, to rescind the quit order he earlier gave the Fulani residing in his state and compensate those who fell victim of the attack on Fulani communities in the southwest state.
Yerima said in Kaduna on Sunday that the quit notice order by the Governor of Ondo State Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN and subsequent attack and destruction of property in Oyo were not only worrisome but disturbing.
“Let it be known that the constitution of Nigeria guarantees every Nigerian to live in any part of this country and free to engage in any legitimate business of his or her choice,  the Governor of Ondo State being a learned person is expected to know better. ....

Daily Trust - Civilians and not Military drafted Nigeria's constitutions —


“The group of ’49 Wise Men’ brought together in 1978 by General [Olusegun] Obasanjo to write a new constitution under the chairmanship of Justice Udo Udoma did not have military personnel as members or any input by the military.
“The Draft Constitution which they produced was debated by an elected constituent assembly under the chairmanship of Chief Rotimi Williams.
“Again there were no military members who participated in the deliberations of the elected constituent assembly”, He said.
According to Mr Sani, it was the outcome of the debates that was promulgated into the 1979 Constitution under which those who were seen as the beacons of democracy in Nigeria contested for elected positions in 1979. ....
