1948: Winner of the men’s gold medal at the National Mod Was Mr Iain R. Douglas who is a native of Staffin, Skye, to which his parents, Mr and Mrs Hugh Douglas also belong.A pupil of Mr Yacamini, Perth, Mr Douglas won, in addition to the Gold Medal, the James Grant Memorial Prize, the Oran Mor and the Oban and Lorn Association 1939-45 Memorial Medal.He is a member of the Glasgow Gaelic Musical Association and the Caledonian Strathspey and Reel Society. During the recent war, Mr Douglas served for five years with the Royal Navy, and is at present an Arts student at Glasgow University. ....
