Vanderhoof girl receives Continuous Glucose Monitor ahead of Variety Radiothon SHARE ON: (Photo supplied by Variety/Vista Radio staff) Many children will benefit from the 17th Annual Variety Radiothon for Prince George and Vanderhoof which is a week away. The Radiothon has helped many kids with special needs including an 8-year-old girl named Karista from the Vanderhoof-Fraser Lake area. Karista has Type 1 Diabetes, a lifelong disease caused by the autoimmune system attacking the insulin-producing cells in the body. Her family has to constantly monitor blood sugar levels and make adjustments to her physical activity and diet. Fortunately, a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) was found. ....
Annual Variety Radiothon returns to the Prince George airwaves SHARE ON: Variety Radiothon (MyPGNow.com file photo) The annual Variety Radiothon will be returning to 94.3 The GOAT and Country97 FM in Prince George and 95.9 The Goat in Vanderhoof for its 17th year on Wednesday, June 16th. This year the event will be held over the course of one day and will raise funding for children with special needs in the North through the Variety Children’s charity. “We’re thrilled to once again be partnering with 94.3 The GOAT, Country 97FM and 95.9 The GOAT,” said Cally Wesson, CEO, Variety BC. “Just this week, we’ve had six families from Prince George and Vanderhoof apply for grants with the average grant in Northern BC being $2,500.” ....
