The Southern Confederacy: With slow but sure steps, without passion, calmly, determinedly, six States have left the Union and formed a new Confederacy. It is of no use to deny the right of secession, and equally of no use to cry that there is no danger, and that the Union will be preserved. States have seceded and the Union is dissolved.

A bark anchored off our bar on Sunday, during the storm. The Geo. Shattuck came down to her yesterday, but as she immediately left her assistance probably was not wanted. The bark got under weigh about noon, wind about N. W. (Note: The steamer Geo. Shattuck ran between Boston and Provincetown.)
