With Juneteenth less than a week away, the Nashville Predators are encouraging fans to join them in celebrating the holiday, which marks the end of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth, a contraction of "June" and "Nineteenth," celebrates the date when slaves in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom after the arrival of federal troops in 1865 - two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation and about two months after the end of the Civil War.
