Deschutes Forest Restrictions Lifted

Beginning October 5, 2022, all public use restrictions on the Deschutes National Forest have been lifted. The lifting of the Public Use Restrictions means that campfires are now allowed outside of designated campgrounds. However, given recent warm temperatures, fire officials remind the public to continue to be cautious with any possible ignition sources and ensure that all campfires are thoroughly extinguished. Remember to have plenty of water nearby and a shovel on-hand when maintaining a campfire. Using explosive target material, such as Tannerite, explosives, and fireworks are always prohibited on all national forest lands. To ensure that a fire is completely extinguished, people should use the "Drown, Stir, and Feel" method. Using that method a person drowns the fire with water, then stirs around the fire area with a shovel to wet any remaining embers and ash. Redmond Rotary Raises 10K for Veterans

Redmond Rotary Club's sponsorship at the recent Wild Ride Jump Show raised $10,000 for the Central Oregon Veterans Ranch. Rotarian Justin Homan organized the sponsorship event and could be seen jumping the ramps. Rotarians will present a $10,000 donation check to Central Oregon Veterans Ranch Wednesday. Roundabouts Coming To Hwy 20 In Tumalo

Construction on two new roundabouts will begin soon on Highway 20 west of Bend. ODOT is working to improve traffic and pedestrian safety on U.S. 20 from Tumalo to Cooley Road. Construction will begin this fall. Several improvements are underway with consruction including: • Repaving U.S. 20 from MP 14.31 to 17.39. • Bridge deck improvements on the Deschutes River Bridge. • Two roundabouts at the intersections of U.S. 20/Old Bend-Redmond and U.S. 20/OB Riley Road. • A bike/pedestrian undercrossing at U.S. 20 and 4th Street in Tumalo. • A shared use path from Cooley Road to the intersection of Old Bend-Redmond Highway. • The extension of two eastbound lanes on U.S. 20 from the Old Bend-Redmond intersection east to milepost 17.23. ....

Local Gas Prices Skyrocket

After 14 weeks of declines, gas prices are on the rise, soaring on the West Coast and in the Midwest with more moderate increases in other parts of the country. Several refineries in California are undergoing planned or unplanned maintenance, creating extremely tight supplies on the West Coast. For the week, the national average for regular adds seven cents to $3.75 a gallon.
