high alert after yesterday s deadly shooting in dallas that left five officers dead and several wounded. reports increased security and advise blunt horsemen to but troll in pairs as a step up of precaution. when the deadly skin and else occurred, president obama was overseas with members of his cabinet for a nato summit in poland. he addressed the shooting in the ongoing investigation while holding a youth conference with leaders of the european council and commission. this is 25 minutes. good morning, everybody. how to begin by thanking tusk for the opportunity to meet today. i would begin with a few words about the situation back in the united states. specifically the situation in dallas, texas. my team has been keeping me updated throughout the morning and evening. i spoke this morning with mayor rawlings dallas to convey the deepest condolences of the american people. i told him that the federal government will provide whatever assistance dallas may need as it deal
but when we see a 12-year-old boy in cleveland get killed, standing still with a toy gun, offices are choosing this time and time again. to ignore the racist element and this is to live in a wonderland. the severald about dozen laws that are out there these days, to address police violence. is there one piece of legislation you can point to out there that you think might make a significant difference moving forward? guest: president obama could signing executive order, or congress could put legislation forward. the national level, that could have a demonstrative impact, if we had a standard that highlighted the preservation of life. you think about places like baltimore, it was until recently, like the last few choke hold people. it was not against the rules. that is true in cities across the country, and that is ok. that is not ok. there is negative discipline, and that does not make sense. it is not a system designed to make officers accountable. it would be around a use
