We know when a woman is afraid to call the police, it increases the level of violence in the home and a lot of this is due because of the policy of secure communities where women are afraid to call the police, but luckily we have been able to work directly with the d. A. s office and have a legal advocate present at our office, once a week, which has really helped to connect the women with Legal Services.
