Four Wisconsin girls among first to earn Eagle Scout rank


Jaisyn Daher, Annastasia Wischki, and sisters Annie and Cassie Scheidt are following in the footsteps of their brothers and fathers, while paving the way for girls across the country.
They are the first young women in southeastern Wisconsin to earn the Eagle Scout rank in Scouts BSA, formerly known as Boy Scouts of America.
People give mixed reactions when they hear we re in Eagle Scouts, said Annie Scheidt. A lot of people think it s so cool and we re trailblazers. You always have someone who pushes against you or doesn’t support change. You take them in stride.
After changing its name in 2019, Scouts BSA said it would allow girls into the program for the first time. The four Wisconsinites scrambled to find local chapters to join. ....

Meet the four locals who are among the nation's first 1,000 female Eagle Scouts


When she was 8, Annastasia Wischki, now 14, was on a trip with her older brother’s Boy Scout troop. The boys were tasked with building a fire using only one match. Wischki teamed up with one of the other Scouts’ sisters to join in.
All the boys failed. Wischki and the other girl were the only ones who succeeded. Immediately, “I had the spark for it,” she said.
It would be a few more years before girls would start being allowed into Boy Scouts of America, now Scouts BSA, in February 2019, months after young girls could become Cub Scouts.
Once that barrier was removed, four local girls — siblings Caroline and Annie Scheidt, Jaisyn Daher, and Wischki — made quick work of achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, having gotten there in just two years. ....
