Out of the past July 3, 1986 Sidney is soon to have a new carriage shop. Charles F. Yager has purchased the Thompson property on West avenue, where the old Thomas egg-packing house now stands and will build a carriage shop at that location. Work of tearing down the old packing house will commence next week. Mr. Yager expects to have the buildings completed and ready for occupancy by Oct. 1. - Jacob Eisenstein will next week open a saloon in the Goffena property on the south side of the square, now occupied by J.H. Bushmann. Mr. Bushmann will move to the Boss property on South street near the canal, where he will open a grocery and saloon. ....
Out of the past February 17, 1896 The county commissioners received bids until noon today for erecting an iron bridge across Loramie creek in Washington township, about two miles north of Lockington, and an iron bridge across Mosquito creek in Perry township, two miles east of Sidney. Fifteen companies submitted bids, but the commissioners considered all the bids were too high and rejected them all. - Frank the fire department horse sold to Jack Downs a few weeks ago, has been purchased of Downs by Frank Marrs, who lives east of Sidney. Frank was formerly owned by Marrs and sold by him for use in the fire department. He was the first horse purchased by the fire department and served 11 years. ....
