For this exhibition we have , about 124 objects, of which there are 63 portraits. In curating the exhibition i was , hoping to commemorate the 19th amendment and tell the history of the 19th amendment and how women lobbied to get this amendment passed and ratified. But also ask questions about it. And ask, what does that do and what does that not do . And why 1965, the Voting Rights act is considered a mother a , part two of the 19th amendment. Since our nations founding, africanamericans have struggled, fought and died for the right to be free and equal citizens. This month marks 99 years since the tulsa race massacre, where an entire, vibrant community was destroyed and black men, women and children were systemically murdered. Today is juneteenth. A holiday that celebrate s the freedom of black people in america. That freedom did not come until 1865. Two and a half years after president lincoln abolished slavery. We are still working for freedom and we are still working to provide equal opportuni
