India News: NEW DELHI: Supreme Court on Monday declined to interfere with a Varanasi court's order allowing a priest nominated by the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trus.
The fast-track court of civil judge (senior division) in Varanasi has scheduled Mar 18 for the hearing of a plea filed by Lohta-resident Mukhtar Ahmad Ansari. Ansari has requested to be made a party in the Gyanvapi original suit titled 'Ancient Idol of Swamyambhu Lord Vishweshwar vs Anjuman Intezamia Masjid (AIM)' and others. Advocate Vijay Shankar Rastogi has objected to the plea.
The apex court tagged the Gyanvapi committee's plea against the High Court order on the maintainability of temple restoration suit with other pending matters on the dispute.
