Road to J&K's Prosperity has to pass through its Villages: Lt Governor

Srinagar,May 07 (Scoop News)-Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today emphasized that the policies and development plans for districts and concerned departments must accord higher priority to rural development as road to prosperity of Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir has to pass through its villages.

Highlighting the role of rural infrastructure, self-employment, and agrarian society, the Lt Governor observed that the concerned department’s policies should be based on pragmatism in order to harness the tremendous potential of our villages.

“Around 70% of J&K’s population is dependent on agriculture and allied activities. Today, the development in rural areas is not just about self-sufficiency in food production but also about increasing yields and income and making the people more empowered. It is also about making the villages self-sufficient because the road to J&K’s prosperity has to pass through its villages,” Lt Governor said. ....

Principal Secretary, Animal Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Departments reviews functioning of Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries


 
Jammu: Principal Secretary, Animal Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Departments, Navin Kumar Choudhary, today convened a meeting to review functioning of these departments.
The meeting had a detailed review of CAPEX budget, funds released, expenditures incurred under centrally sponsored schemes for 2020-21 besides deliberating on action plan of UT Capex/Revenue budget for the year 2021-22. Besides, Cattle Feed Production Scheme, Integrated Poultry Development Scheme, Fodder Development Scheme, Integrated Poultry Development Scheme and other related schemes were also assessed during the meeting.
While reviewing performance of Animal Husbandry Department, Principal Secretary directed the officers to plan and submit a detailed project report for setting up of multifunctional animal husbandry hospitals at three different locations in Jammu division besides revamping the existing hospital at R S Pura under ‘Augmentation of Animal Healthcare Infrastructure in Jammu’ init ....
