An Erie man accused of telling a woman that her dog was getting too old faces felony animal cruelty charges on allegations that he stabbed the dog in the neck at a city residence in early October. The defendant, Jeremy M. Pursell, 48, was in the Erie County Prison on $100,000 bond Monday following his arraignment on Friday by Erie 5th Ward District Judge Paul Bizzarro. Pursell is accused of two third-degree felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals and neglect of animals. An animal cruelty officer with the Erie Humane Society filed the charges on Oct. 22. The case was open until Pursell s arraignment on Friday. ....
