Greater Niagara Region by Frank Campbell Happy Thanksgiving! With the regular big game hunting season underway, fishing pressure in area waters has dropped off, especially in places like Burt Dam and 18 Mile Creek in Olcott. Fisherman’s Park at Burt Dam has limited numbers of cars in the parking lot, especially during the week. Karen
Lake trout are moving into the Niagara river in larger numbers right now, the steelhead action continues to be strong, and both smallmouth and musky activity has picked up.
Cool, rainy weather put a damper on some fishing activities, but for those that put up with the conditions, they were rewarded with some pretty good fishing.
Bass and walleye action continues to be very good, with smallmouth hitting 3-way rigs baited with crayfish or minnows, and walleye hitting worm harnesses.
