Jason Lopes, 33, was arrested this week in Garland Texas after a warrant was issued for his arrest. According to the Rhode Island Attorney General s Office, Lopes killed Zackary Marshall 22, outside a bar on Peck Street on Dec. 18, 2010. The case had gone unsolved for more than 10 years, but Steven M Paré, the Providence Commissioner of Public Safety, said Providence Det. Angelo A Vant uncovered new evidence which led to Lopes arrest. ....

That changed early Tuesday, at least in part, when Latimer-Nicholas learned that a Boston man had been indicted in the 2011 shooting death of her oldest son, Steven Latimer. Assistant Attorney General Jim Baum delivered the news to her Tuesday morning along with Providence Police Detective Angelo A’Vant and Ana Giron, director of victims’ services at the attorney general’s office. “It was just really overwhelming,” Latimer-Nicholas said. “I honestly had not expected them to be where they were.” ....
