How long is a new pope to be elected . The earliest is probably after the first round of votes at 8 p. M. When we could see smoke rising from the Sistine Chapel. The more realistic estimate from all the experts and clergy that were talking to here in vatican city is about four to five days. But again, nothing is set in stone.
