inequality of the days of the great depression is something that americans are yearning for, you are alone. or you are a republican running for congress. the republican party s budget proposal wants to cut taxes on the richest people in the country by 29%. so take whatever the budget deficit would have been otherwise and make it $2.9 trillion worse over the next ten years. that s what the republican plan would cost, according to tax policy center. where does the political opportunity of this come in? well, in the last nbc news/ wall street journal poll that asked americans how they would cut the deficit, given a whole menu of options, the most popular thing on that menu, the most popular thing on that list, the thing described as acceptable by 81% of respondents was to low terrify deficit by putting an extra tax on people making more than a million bucks a year. so 81% of americans say millionaires should pay more in taxes in order to close the deficit. republicans want to ....
