Applications open for $100,000 Hamilton City Council event fund


The fund supports events and activities taking place from mid-October to the end of July next year.
“Events, big or small, are an important way of connecting our wider community. This fund is also a way for council to empower and enable some local groups and organisations doing great things for our many diverse communities.”
Organisations can apply to the fund for one-off events, or a series of smaller occasions.
The application period runs until August 10, and applicants will be advised whether they’ve been successful by the end of October.
Grant applications are taken through the SmartyGrants system and council staff will be available to answer questions. People with questions about the fund or its criteria are advised to contact [email protected]. ....

Is Hamilton s city centre a place where you feel safe? The Hamilton City Council wants to hear your thoughts.
A survey of people’s views on safety in Hamilton’s central city is now under way.
The annual “perceptions survey” is a valuable tool for the Hamilton City Council to identify areas of concern or improvement.
“We want our central city to be the beating heart of Hamilton that always has something going on for our diverse communities to come together and enjoy,” kaiwhakahaere rautaki hapori (community services strategy manager) Andy Mannering said.
“Safety is a key part of achieving this. We want to ensure our city is a place where people always feel safe and welcome.” ....
