Real Salt Lake are away to Minnesota United FC. It’s a fixture that could give any RSL fan some anxiety. In the ten times these two teams have met, RSL have won only once, which was at home. We turned to Ashle Norling of E Pluribus Loonum to learn more about to expect from Minnesota United. In addition to soccer questions, Ashle also informed me that “E Pluribus Loonum” is play on the Latin phrase “E pluribus unum”, which means “Out of many, one”. And it directly translates to “Many Loons”, which is fantastic. ....

NEWS: #Gophers freshman guard Jamal Mashburn Jr. is in the NCAA transfer portal, a source told @PioneerPress. Andy Greder (@andygreder) March 17, 2021
With Marcus Carr likely to enter the draft, Mashburn was expected to be the starting point guard for Minnesota next season. The freshman play in 29 games last season, and started eight of them. He averaged 8.2 PPG and 22 MPG, showing flashes of being a dominant scorer.
Entering the transfer portal does not mean that Mashburn will actually transfer, but as it stands today the Gophers have no point guards on the roster. The next coach will have to fill a major hole at the most important position in college basketball. ....

The year 2020 has been especially taxing on the University of Minnesota football team and entire athletics department.
Following a historical 11-2 campaign in 2019, the Gophers are 2-3 and have one of the nation’s worst defenses heading into Saturday’s 11 a.m. game at Nebraska (2-4), where they are a 10.5-point underdog.
But at least Minnesota gets to play this week, and perhaps next week. The Gophers had to cancel their two most recent games including their “Battle for Paul Bunyan’s Ax” against border rival Wisconsin due to an outbreak of almost 50 coronavirus cases in the program, including over 25 coaches or staff members. ....
