A MAN in Yeovil was given a community order after he assaulted a police officer. Lee James Brown, 26, from Hillcrest Road in Yeovil, was drunk, disorderly and threatening or abusive towards a police officer last September. At Yeovil Magistrates Court, he was given a community order, which consists of 80 hours unpaid work within the next year. He also had to pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 in costs. The day after this offence, he assaulted a different police officer by beating them. He was given another 80 hours unpaid work over the next year, and asked to pay £50 in compensation to the officer.
