Hey Mayor, Tell Markey New Bedford Needs Sewer Aid [OPINION]

Hey Mayor, Tell Markey New Bedford Needs Sewer Aid [OPINION] The Environmental Protection Agency is apparently ready to lower the boom on the City of New Bedford for not completing eight federally-mandated infrastructure projects under the Clean Water Act, but the Mitchell Administration doesn t appear to be too concerned about it. City Council Finance Committee Chair Linda Morad said city residents can expect higher sewer and water rates to pay for the projects. Morad said the city faces a potential EPA fine of $58,000 per day per project if work does not resume PDQ. She said after making progress on completing the mandates, work has stalled due to a lack of funds and the COVID-19 crisis.

First Warren, Now Markey Finds New Bedford [OPINION] Fresh on the heels of Elizabeth Warren s flop of a visit to New Bedford last week comes word that Ed Markey is on his way. I guess these sighting of two rare birds is further proof that spring is here. Last week, Warren posed for pictures with New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell at a COVID-19 vaccination center that is not even expected to open until mid-April. Hey, shill when you get the chance, right? Warren actually said funding the vaccination center was about treating our fishermen and seafood workers with respect. She said that, honest!

State pulls back on vaccines allocated to hospitals and health systems

In an email to its patients on Friday, Southcoast Health explained the Massachusetts Department of Public Health will no longer send additional first-dose vaccines to hospitals and health systems. The state will re-prioritize and redirect doses to mass vaccination sites, as they have announced two more in Danvers and Dartmouth this week, as well as retail pharmacy sites and community health centers. “All patients and hospital staff with existing appointments will get their first and second shots, and the administration is hopeful more vaccines will arrive soon for more providers, including hospital systems,” a spokeswoman for the state’s COVID-19 Response Command Center said in a statement to the Boston Globe.
