Ontario man arrested after 'blatant act of hatred' that saw death threats hurled at Muslim mother and daughter

An Ontario man has been arrested in connection with an incident in which a Muslim mother and daughter from Hamilton were the victims of a hate crime and assault, receiving death threats and racial slurs.
On July 12, Hamilton police say that a mother and daughter were walking through a parking lot in the Ancaster Meadowlands when a man pulled out of a parking spot and almost struck one of the victims.
Police said the interaction quickly escalated to the suspect uttering death threats towards the victims while hurling racial slurs targeting the Muslim community.
The mother and daughter ran across the street and hid to evade the suspect, who police said was searching for the pair. ....

Ontario man arrested after mother and daughter nearly hit by car, targets of death threats and racial slurs

Hamilton Police Service (HPS) have arrested a 40-year-old man from Hamilton in connection with an incident in which a mother and daughter received death threats and were the targets of racial slurs in a parking lot.
According to police, a mother and daughter were walking through an Ancaster Meadowlands parking lot on Monday when a vehicle almost struck them.
An interaction followed which escalated into the suspect uttering deaths towards the victims while “using racial slurs targeting the Muslim community,” HPS said.
The victims then ran across the street and hid behind some bushes, while the suspect allegedly​ searched for them. ....

Ontario offering shots to all adults today, critics say hot spots need priority

TORONTO – Ontario said its COVID-19 hot spots will have enough vaccines to meet demand when all adults become eligible for shots this week, but critics said the province wasn’t doing enough for areas hit hardest by the pandemic.
The government announced Monday that everyone aged 18 and older would qualify for a shot Tuesday thanks to an early shipment of vaccines. At the same time, Ontario reverted to distributing doses on a per capita basis after sending half its supply to hot spots for two weeks.
Health Minister Christine Elliott said the early vaccine shipment meant hot spots would get the shots they require and local health officials would be able to direct doses to where they were most needed. ....
