The annual competition is traditionally organized by the Department of Foreign Languages of Humanities as part of activities to increase the academic mobility of students.
The competition was held at the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences. Contestants sought to demonstrate their skills in CV and cover letter writing in English in the nominations “For a vacant position in an international company” and “For study abroad”.
In 2021, more than 250 first and second year students of the directions “History of International Relations”, “Historical and Cultural Tourism”, “History of Russia”, “International Relations”, “Sociology”, “Social Work”, “Political Science” , “Education in Subject Areas (History and Social Science)” under the guidance of teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages in the Humanities (head of the department I.E. The super final of the competition in 2021 was attended not only by students of Petrozavodsk State University, but also the Ural State Economic University (Yekaterinburg), Ivanovo State University of Chemistry and Technology (Ivanovo), as well as the Eurasian National University named after V.I. L. N. Gumilyova (Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan).
The interuniversity competition of projects in foreign languages, which has become a tradition, was organized by I.E. Abramova and E.P. Shishmolina. The competition is constantly evolving and arouses interest among students of Russian universities.
The Digital Story format and the choice of acute social and patriotic topics allow participants to maximize their creative aspirations, express their point of view on the most important issues of our time, try themselves as creators of multimedia or video content, and hone their skills in working with visual images and infographics.

The Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences of PetrSU hosted the annual Digital Stories competition. The competition was organized by the Department of Foreign Languages of Humanities and was held at the university from February 4 to March 3.
More than 135 1st – 4th year undergraduate students submitted their works to the competition under the guidance of I.E. Abramova, associate professor E.P. Shishmolina, senior teacher A.V. Ananyina, senior teacher O.V. Vikulina, senior teacher L.N. Yusupova.
Contest entries were presented in three main nominations: “Impression” (where the main criterion for assessing was the degree of emotional impact on the audience), “Analytics” (where, first of all, the depth of critical analysis of independently selected information was assessed) and “Result” (where a special attention was paid to the structure of the presentation, clarity and consistency of presentation).
