Close to its centre the cyclone is expected to have very destructive winds upto 250 kilometres per hour with momentary gusts to 350 kilometres per hour. The cyclone is moving East South East at about 19 kilometres per hour. ....

The Nadi Weather Office says the centre of Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasa is currently over Bua and the whole category 5 cyclone is expected to cross Vanua Levu over a 3 to 6 hour period. The centre of the system will go over Nasau and exit Sawani in Vanua Levu. Acting Director, Terry Atalifo says very destructive winds are being felt from Bua to Savusavu in Vanua Levu, and as the cyclone moves down further, Suva to Nausori areas will start getting destructive winds. ....

In Nasoqo village on the island of Naviti, seawater has started to enter the village compound. Villager Waisea Stark says crops and trees have been uprooted and the roofs of some houses have been blown away but they will be able to get a much clearer picture of the situation when it is safe. Anare Tiko of Gunu Village in Naviti Island, Yasawa says at 3 this morning, they left for the Gaunavou Primary School. He says a few coconut trees have been uprooted. Meanwhile, Pastor Viliame Stark of Nasoqo Village in Naviti Island says the destructive winds are causing heavy swells and they have moved those families beside the sea to the evacuation centre at Gaunavou Primary School. ....
