this is cnn breaking news. . i m victor blackwell, thank you for staying with us. we are of course covering the breaking news, this man hunt happening right now for the man who opened fire at a july 4th parade in highland park, illinois. he s described as armed and dangerous. at least six people are dead. more than two dozen have been taken to hospitals. now, a briefing a short time ago, police described this suspect. the suspect is currently described as a male, white, approximately 18 to 20 years old with longer black hair, a small build and wearing a white or blue t-shirt. a firearm has been recovered from the scene. it does appear he was shooting from a roof. the roof that he was shooting from, i don t have that information right now. we now know that the fbi is assisting in this investigation. and authorities are asking of course anyone with video to contact highland park police. we ve known the video in situations like this has been crucial. cnn s adrienne broad
dr. kaitlin bernard. an indianapolis obstetrician gynecologist took a call from a colleague. a child abuse doctor in ohio. hours after the supreme court action the buckeye state had outlawed any abortion after six weeks. now, this doctor had a 10-year-old patient in the office who was six weeks and three days pregnant. could bernard help? this is a heinous story. 10-year-old girl was raped and is pregnant with the rapist s baby? there is nothing more despicable than that. and she was now unable to end her pregnancy in the state of ohio, so according to the report, that s where dr. kaitlin bernard steps in. since indiana had yet to change their abortion laws, the girl could still end her pregnancy if she crossed state lines. her doctor got in contact with bernard and the 10-year-old was apparently driven across state lines and her pregnancy was ended by bernard in indiana. the story quickly took hold all across the globe. headlines, home and abroad highlighted the tragic situa
this is not the usual gun violence and chicago. this is outside of the city. what is the quintessential north shore suburb. the fourth of july highland. there are reports the shooter took an elevated position. you can see from the video there s a strip of stores that run the main street in center of town. you can see tactical teams on the scene. we have reports someone was on the rooftop of some of those strips of stores or took an elevated position from a high rise possibly shooting out a window. wgn in chicago reports one person killed. chicago sun times says multiple victims from the shooting there. are different accounts saying as many as nine people have been shot in this incident. tactical teams have arrived. there s a big presence including state police an lake county sheriff. what you can see from the video with the police presence you can see the kind of things people would have brought to a parade folding chairs coolers abandoned as people ran from the scene.
