Amelia Earhart Amelia Mary Earhart was born on the 24 of July in 1897 (Encyclopedia.com). As a young girl, she was not interested airplanes. In fact, when she first saw an airplane she did not find it all that amazing. She lived with her maternal grandparents in Atchison, Kansas until she was 12-years-old. She had one sister by the name of Grace Muriel Earhart. Her mother’s name was Amy Otis-Earhart. Her father’s name was Edwin Stanton Earhart. Mr. Earhart continuously fought a losing battle against alcohol. However, his addiction, gave Amelia two very responsible mindsets, a lifelong dislike for alcohol and a desire for financial security (Encyclopedia,com).
