A Magistrate Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State has remanded two Nigerian journalists, the Managing Editor of BIGPEN NIGERIA (Online newspaper), Joe Ogbodu, and Prince Amour Udemude, over a defamatory report published on October 24, 2019. The two journalists had written a story published on October 24, 2019, about the oil crisis in Uzere community in which one Sam Ogrih was allegedly accused of funding and sponsoring some armed Uzere community youths who styled themselves as “Freedom Fighters” and had unleashed mayhem on the community.
The trial of two Delta State-based Journalists, Joe Ogbodu, and Prince Amour Udemude, on Wednesday took a new twist after Udemude informed the court that he was forced by a police prosecutor, Theresa Okpor, to write a statement dictated by her. The two journalists were arrested by the police from the Delta State criminal investigation department, (CID) in October, 2019, following a petition by one Sam Ogrih, alleging defamation and were arraigned for misdemeanour to wit defamatory at the Magistrate court four, sitting in Asaba, the state capital.

The thugs, led by one Goddey Igorigo, identified as a former political aide to Ogor, accosted him on Monday at Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area of the state.

An investigative journalist based in Delta state, Prince Amour Udemude, has said he narrowly escaped an attack by a group of people suspected to be thugs and allegedly loyal to a former minority leader in the House of Representatives, Leo Ogor.
Ogor is also the member representing Isoko federal constituency in the National Assembly.
