Two rockets fired from the Gaza Strip at Israel fell within the Palestinian enclave on Tuesday night, the military said after rocket sirens sounded in the southern kibbutz of Kissufim.
The incident came after a quiet Monday night that followed three consecutive nights of rocket fire. After the rocket fire on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, the security cabinet approved on Monday a harsher military response if rocket fire from the Gaza Strip persisted. Meanwhile, the military began beefing up its presence along the Gaza border and preparing for any potential escalation.
Cabinet sources said a full-blown military operation was not on the table, but Israel would like to see a response beyond targeted attacks.
