SENDAI A northeast Japan diner run by a family who survived the March 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami has weathered destruction and gained media attention for continuing to serve gorgeous ramen bursting with local seafood including huge scallops, whole hairy crabs, prawns and clams.
The thin noodles made at Enmantei diner, in the Nobiru district of the Miyagi Prefecture city of Higashimatsushima, pair well with its chicken stock enriched using buttery crab tomalley. Their dishes fill the palate with scents of the sea. As this reporter was about to finish the broth, staff scoop out the meat from the crab and put it on a scallop ....

SENDAI The municipal government here has been overwhelmed by numerous inquiries since April 1 after elderly residents received coronavirus vaccine vouchers that lacked specific information on where to get the shot and how to make appointments.
The vaccine vouchers were distributed to around 270,000 residents aged 65 and older in the northern Japan city of Sendai, including those who will turn 65 during fiscal 2021, ahead of the nationwide start of senior citizen vaccinations. ....

SENDAI Household items covered in mud, fragments of tiles from homes; these are some of the items exhibited as records of the March 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami at Rias Ark Museum of Art in the city of Kesennuma in Miyagi Prefecture, where the disaster struck.
