Big trucks rattle residential street in Scranton

The vibrations of big trucks rumbling down her narrow residential street set off her doorbell camera.
Dozens of big trucks, most loaded with road salt, detour daily down Third Avenue because they are too heavy to cross the nearby East Elm Street bridge that has a 15-ton weight limit, in place since 2015, residents and city officials said.
Rising truck traffic in recent years has become unbearable for the nearly three dozen residences on Third Avenue.
“When we bought or began renting our homes, Third Avenue was a quiet, peaceful street. Now, we seem to live in an industrial park. Something must be done,” said a letter signed by Tunney and 19 of her neighbors and sent to Scranton City Council last month. ....
